Friday, March 12th

ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER FOR THE MAIN TOURNAMENT BY 9PM ON FRIDAY, MARCH 12th

ON-SITE / LATE REGISTRATION:

3PM to 9PM at the Squires Student Center, Campus of Virginia Tech, the site of the tournament.

There is no registration desk on Saturday or Sunday.
-

Blitz: Round 1 at 6:30 PM
-
ON-SITE Registration and Payment for Blitz if from 3-6 PM. Players not paid for blitz by 6 PM will not be paired for the Blitz Tournament.

Will be played in the Squires Student Center.

We expect Blitz to finish about 9PM.

Blitz awards will be distributed on Sunday Morning at 8 AM before we start Round 5 of the Main Tournament ... see below.

Check-in: You only need to "check-in" if you meet one or more of these criteria:

You want to play in the blitz tournament and have not paid or registered

You need to pay your entry fees for the Main Event, or you still need to register

You need to change a player's or your Team's registration information

You want to check on your Team Room status

You have other questions about the Tournament

Main Tournament (Saturday and Sunday): Players who have not paid their fees by 9PM on Friday evening at the Tournament Site will NOT BE PAIRED for Round 1 of the Tournament with out the express consent of the Chief Tournament Director on a case-by-case basis.

Late Registration. This is the last chance for any player to Register for the tournament. Late Registration fee is $40 per player for the Main Event, and $15 to play Blitz. Late Registration for the Main Tournament ends at 9PM Friday evening.
Saturday, March 13th

Opening Ceremonies: In the Playing Hall (in Squires Student Center) at 8:45 AM.

Round 1: 9 AM, Time control is Game-60 in all sections.

Round 2: 12-noon, Game-60..

Round 3: 3 PM, Game-60.

Round 4: 6 PM, Time Control is Game-90.
Sunday, March 14th

BLITZ Awards: 8 AM in the Playing Hall

Round 5: 8:30 AM, Time Control is Game-90.

Round 6: 12-noon, Game-90.
-
Awards Ceremonies: By-section, about 30 minutes after a Section completes its last game.

K-5 and K-12: 1st-5th Individual and Team

College: 1st-3rd Individual and Team.

Main Event--All Scholastic Sections (K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12): The number of trophies per section is now based on our historical data for entries from 2002-2009.

K-3 and K-8: 1st-20th Individual trophies, medals to all players tied for 20th.
Team trophies for 1st-15th places. Participation Ribbons for all players. -
K-5: 1st-25th Individual trophies, medals to all players tied for 25th.
Team trophies for 1st-15th places. Participation Ribbons for all players. -
K-12: 1st-15th Individual trophies, medals to all players tied for 15th.
Team trophies for 1st-10th places -
College: 1st-5th Individual trophies, plus 1st-3rd Cash Prizes (amount based on number of entries). 1st-3rd Team trophies
