			is the HOME PAGE for the 2022-23 Virginia Scholastic & College Chess 
			Championships. The tournament consists of three events: 
			
				- 
				
The Blitz Tournament: 
				Held Friday evening, with Round 1 at 6:30pm. 
				 
				- 
				
The "Main Event": 
				Held Saturday and Sunday, with Round 1 at 9am on Saturday. 
				 
				- 
				
A Parents & Friends (P&F) 
				Tournament: Saturday and Sunday, with 
				Round 1 at 12:45pm on Saturday.

			PARKING: Parking is available at 
			the hotel, but it is not free. Hotel guests pay $13/day, it's higher

			The Main Tournament 
			has 5 Rounds, Blitz will have 4 or 5 rounds, 
			depending on the number of players.  Parents & Friends also is

			9 Sections to choose from. 
			
				- 
				
K-3 Championship & K-3 Under 
				600.  The K-3 Under 600 Section 
				is for players rated 599 and below, including Unrated players. 
				 
				- 
				
K-5 Championship & K-5 Under 
				1000.  K-5 Under 1000 is for 
				players rated 999 and below, including Unrated players. 
				 
				- 
				
K-8 Championship & K-8 Under 
				1200.  K-8 Under 1200 is for 
				players rated 1199 and below, including Unrated players. 
				 
				- 
				
K-12 Championship & K-12 
				Under 1400.  K-12 Under 1400 is 
				for players rated 1399 and below, including Unrated players. 
				 
				- 
				
College. 
				Open only to players enrolled in college, not open to 
				HS students attending college. 
				 
			 
			 
			- 
			
			Unrated Players 
			are allowed to play in the  
			Championship or Under sections 
			within their grade group. ALSO, the Championship sections are 
			open to players of all ratings. In other 
			words a school may form a team in a 
			Championship Section with players who otherwise may be 
			eligible to play in one of the "Under" sections. For 
			example, an 11th Grade player rated 1350 does NOT 
			have to play in the K12 Under 1400 Section. That 
			player may 
			play with his/her schoolmates in the Championship Section.

			Please note that when you register, the 
		tournament has

				Blitz Championships -- 4 rounds.

				an optional 
				side event that has no impact on the standings in any 
				sections of the main tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

				5-Round State Scholastic & College Championships Main Event!!  
				College plays 4 rounds only, all on Saturday.
