Five Rounds:  Round 1: G/90, d/5;   Rounds 2-5: G/120, d/5.  Round times are:

• Saturday,Oct 25:  10am, 2:30pm, 7pm;

• Sunday, Oct 26:  9:30am, 2:30pm.

• One half-point bye allowed if requested by 2:00pm Saturday, Oct 25.

Location:  Holiday Inn Express, 1350 W. Atlantic St., Emporia, VA. $$810GTD, more if over 35 players. 1st-3rd overall, $325-225-125; Top U1700/Unrated, $90; Top U1200, $80; Top Junior $70 (18 yrs old or under).

 

Hotel Rooms:  Ten Rooms have been "blocked" for us at the Holiday Inn Express at the Chess Rate of $79 per night, plus taxes.

 

Entry Fee:  Early Entry Fee is $45 if received by Tuesday OCT 22, or if you send us your entry information by email by Oct 22 (see Registration below). 

 

Entry fee on-site and after Oct 22 is $55. Checks payable to VCF; no credit cards (but we're working to get PAYPAL up and running).

 

Current VCF and USCF Memberships required:  North Carolina and other state federations recognized.  Please renew your USCF membership prior to the tournament (click here to join or renew your USCF membership).  VCF and USCF memberships also are available at the tournament site.

 

Registration:  By mail, email, or on-site. 

1. On-site:  Friday Oct 24, 7-9PM, Saturday Oct 25, 7:30-9:15AM.  Entry fee on site is $55.  Round 1 will start at 10AM sharp!!

2. Postal Mail to Mike Hoffpauir, ATTN: Emporia Open, 405 Hounds Chase, Yorktown, VA 23693.  Must receive your entry information by Tuesday, Oct 22 for you to get the early entry rate of $45.  Sending me your information by Oct 22 allows you to pay your $45 Entry Fee at the site when you arrive.

3. Email to mhoffpauir@aol.com.  Please send me the following information shown below by midnight on Tuesday Oct 22nd to get the early entry rate of $45 you can pay when you arrive at the tournament.  Just cut and paste the bullets below into your email, then fill in your information.
