A $200 payout is Guaranteed.

When:  Friday August 29th, with Round 1 at 6:30pm (Blitz should be done by about 9PM)



Format:  4 or 5 Double-Rounds using the Swiss System (for each round you play one game as White, and the other as Black.  Time Control for all games is Game in 5-minutes, with no time delay.  You MUST have a clock to play Blitz.

Hotel:  Same Hotel as the State Championships ... details to be published soon.

Eligibility:  This event is OPEN to any player, not just VA residents 
    - USCF Membership required to play, renew now at www.uschess.org and make your tournament entry easier to process.  You can purchase a membership at the tournament, if you wish.
    - VA Chess Federation Membership is NOT required for the Blitz Tournament

SECTIONS:  Two Sections
    - Open:  Cash awards to 1st-3rd places, amounts based on number of players in section.
    - Amateur (Under 1800):  Cash awards to 1st-3rd places, amounts based on number of players in section. 

Registration:  Two ways to register (we may add on-line entry and payment soon ...)
    - Mail:  Complete the Mail-in Blitz Entry Form and drop it in the mail by Tuesday, Aug 26th to Mike Hoffpauir, ATTN: VA Closed, 405 Hounds Chase, Yorktown, VA 23693. Checks to "VCF".  
    - On-Site:  Friday Aug 29, 3-6:00 pm.  Players arriving after 6PM probably will not be paired for Round 1 of the Blitz.

Entry Fee:  $25 IF WE RECEIVED IT BY Thursday Aug 28, $35 thereafter and on site.

Round Times:  Round 1 is at 6:30pm SHARP.  Other rounds as soon as possible after the previous round ends.
