members are under age 18. Players should bring their own chess

obtain annual memberships (lower rates for those aged 18 and under, and
for 65 and older). Handicap accessible. No smoking. |

Virginia Chess Club has been consistently one of the top competitive
chess teams and we are currently the Virginia State Collegiate Champion.
While we encourage competitive players to join, we always welcome new
players with open arms. We host lessons, casual games, and compete in
tournaments. We're dedicated to helping any player of any level improve
their chess skills!
In the past, we've attended several major tournaments, including the
United States Amateur Team East in Parsippany, New Jersey, and The
Virginia State Chess Championship in Virginia. |

The Pawn Project is a FREE youth-led initiative of the 501(c)(3) Chess Club, Inc nonprofit. It is dedicated to bringing free chess opportunities to students in grades K–12. Our program offers guided match pairings so players can enjoy games with others at a similar skill level, while also receiving individualized instruction designed to meet players where they are and help each student “level up” their chess abilities.
