May 3 **Meadowdale Spring Scholastic & Quads. Sat, May 3, at the Meadowdale Public Library in N. Chesterfield, VA. Quads Sections for all Adults and Advanced Scholastic Players (rating over 1200 in the past year). Four (4) Scholastic Sections to choose from K12, K8, K5, and K3. May 3 **2025 Soutwest VA Championships. A 4 or 5 round Open and Scholastic tournament on Saturday, May 3rd, at Fallon Park Elementary School, 502 19th St. East in Roanoke. May 6 RVA Pieces Rated Ladder, Round 14: At the Publix Carytown, 3535 Ellwood Ave, Richmond, VA. Round 14 on May 6, Round 15 on May 21. In-person registration takes place between 6:00 PM and 6:25 PM. May 8 - 11 **SuperNationals VIII. In Orlando FL at the convention center. A US Chess National Championship event with national champion titles available for players in grades K-12, K-8, K-6, K-5, K-3, and K-1. Oct 10-13 4th Skyline Open. (Revised Format.) Friday Oct 10 through Monday, Oct 13, with $10,000 in prizes based on 150 entries (60% payout guaranteed). In Dulles, VA, at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott (click here for reservations). Multiple sections, Open & U2000 are FIDE-rated with 7 rounds of play. Minimum FIDE or USCF rating of 1800 since Jan 1, 2024, to play in Open Section. Players rated 1600-1799 can also play in Open Section by paying an additional $100 with their entry fee. 9-rounds of play in the Swiss System. No players under 1600 in the Open Section. This is NOT a Norm-qualifying tournament. 4-Day Schedule is FIDE-rated, 3-Day schedule is NOT FIDE-rated in Rounds 1 and 2. 2025 U.S. Armed Forces Open (USAFO) Chess Championships. This is a US Chess National Championship event. Current planning calls for the 2025 to be hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The agreement is being worked and is not yet finalized.The annual USAFO is open to all active duty US Military, retired US Military, former members of the US armed forces, cadets from the nation's military academies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine), and college ROTC students. The tournament has 5 rounds, two on Saturday and Sunday, and one on Monday. Play is organized in 2 Sections, with the "Championship" section open to active duty, retirees, and academy / ROTC cadets, and the "Veterans" section for former members of the armed forces.  Both Sections are FIDE and US Chess rated. Two rounds on Sat and Sun, and one round on Mon at a time control of Game-90, increment 30. This event is both FIDE- and US Chess-rated.
